We are Brewery of the Year
Pure joy in Maxlrain: On April 24th, we were honored with the Federal Award of Merit in Gold by the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture and now hold the title "Germany's Brewery of the Year" for this year. Additionally, our brewmaster was named "Brewmaster of the Year." Federal Minister Cem Özdemir (right) presented the medal and certificate.

As of now, our popular naturally cloudy and unfiltered Zwickl Max is available in a new format and a new look: the MAXL ZWICKL in the rounded 0.33L Euro bottle in the blue MAXL crate and with a casual pull-off closure.

Certification as a
Slow Brewer
The Maxlrain Castle Brewery has been accepted as one of only 32 European breweries into the circle of Slow Brewers. Brewmaster Sepp Kronast and his team successfully passed the demanding auditing process. Therefore, we are now entitled to bear the "Slow Brewing" certificate.

in Silver
For the 16th consecutive time, we have received the Federal Award of Merit, this year even in Silver. This makes us the second most awarded brewery in Germany and the most awarded in Upper Bavaria.
The award is given to only 12 breweries for the best results in the DLG competition. There are almost 1,500 breweries in Germany overall.

For the 15th consecutive time, Schlossbrauerei Maxlrain has been awarded the Federal Award of Merit due to its outstanding performance in the DLG competition. Only 12 out of over 600 German breweries were honored again this year.

Federal Honorary Award
For the 13th consecutive time, we are delighted to receive the Federal Award of Merit. In 2020, we were the only brewery in Upper Bavaria to receive this distinction. Furthermore, no brewery has been awarded this highest honor in the German brewing industry. Unfortunately, due to Corona, there was no ceremonial presentation in Berlin this year.
