Splendid aromas and flavors flood the senses when savoring one of these beers – and their enjoyment is not limited to mere degustation. One can feel good about drinking these beers as well. This is what it means to be one of the few to be granted the Slow Brewing Quality Seal. In order to earn the Quality Seal, Slow Brewing not only tests the quality of the beer but also scrutinizes the brewery where the beer is produced.

The comprehensive, thorough demands on the brewery and the frequency and scope of the assessments as well as the scientific access granted to the evaluators are unique in the international brewing industry.

    THIS IS HOW OUR BEER IS EVALUATED…

    The flavor and quality of the beer are evaluated every month by the renowned Research Center Weihenstephan for Brewing and Food Quality (TU Munich). The quality of the beer is thus tested 12 times annually, both freshly packaged and in an “aged” state (up to the end of the best before date). In this way, the quality of the beer remains constant and consistent and always foremost in the minds of the brewers, which is one of the most challenging aspects of the profession.

    Brewery inspections and production testing are performed annually by the Slow Brewing Institute. Certification is granted by the Institute for the quality of the raw materials and food safety, for the standards and merits of the brewing techniques and practices, for not only quality management as part of brewery operations but also for the quality of the personnel management and the corporate culture at the brewery. The audit is very strict and encompasses over 900 questions, which have been defined and developed with a strong foundation in science by the independent experts at the Slow Brewing Institute. The Quality Seal is only awarded to a brewery which meets all of the rigorous guidelines in the audit in every domain of brewery operations.

    The quality seal is only awarded if all areas are rated as excellent.
