The Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) honored the Maxlrain Castle Brewery with the Federal Gold Award. This is the highest quality award in the German brewing industry, which the company received for the 17th time this year.
The Maxlrain Castle Brewery achieved the best overall result of all participants in the DLG quality test for beer. In addition to the Federal Honorary Award in Gold, this also includes the “Brewery of the Year” award and master brewer Josef Kronast was named “Brewmaster of the Year”. 130 German breweries took part in the traditional DLG competition with around 700 beers.
Federal Minister Cem Özdemir, together with the President of the DLG (German Agricultural Society) Hubertus Paetow, presented the certificate and medal in Berlin.

In 2024, we can rejoice with our brewing team over 12 DLG gold medals. All 12 beers submitted for DLG testing received top marks and were awarded gold.

Certified as
a slow brewer
The Maxlrain Castle Brewery was accepted as one of only 32 European breweries into the circle of Slow Brewers. Brewmaster Sepp Kronast and his team successfully passed the demanding auditing process. Therefore, we are now entitled to bear the "Slow Brewing" certification.

Federal Honorary Award in Silver
For the 16th consecutive time, we have received the Federal Award of Merit, this year even in Silver. This makes us the second most awarded brewery in Germany and the most awarded in Upper Bavaria.
The award is given to only 12 breweries for the best results in the DLG competition. There are almost 1,500 breweries in Germany overall.

For the 15th consecutive time, Schlossbrauerei Maxlrain has been awarded the Federal Award of Merit due to its outstanding performance in the DLG competition. Only 12 out of over 600 German breweries were honored again this year.

Federal Honorary Award
For the 13th consecutive time, we are delighted to receive the FEDERAL AWARD OF MERIT. In 2020, we were the only brewery in Upper Bavaria to receive this distinction. Furthermore, there is no brewery that has been awarded this highest honor in the German brewing industry. Due to Corona, there was unfortunately no ceremonial presentation in Berlin this year.
